Last weekend our team were in Duns for a beautiful (and sequin filled!) wedding at the stunning venue of Wedderburn Castle and Barns.
On Friday, Ben and Alice set up the tables, chairs, linen, cutlery and glassware for the wedding breakfast, ready for the bride and groom to add their personal touches. We loved their gold theme, with fairy lights, sequinned bunting, gold frames, candles and red roses to really bring the barns alive.
On Saturday, after a ceremony in the barns, the guests walked down to the Castle for a Farmer’s Market inspired food stall, which included homemade scotch eggs, chorizo flavoured sausage rolls, cured meats, homemade chutney, a vegetable and fruit platter, chilled glasses of prosecco, and cloudy lemonade poured from kilner jars. Unfortunately the weather wasn’t quite on our side but we transformed the entrance of the castle in to the farmers market, and the guests loved it.
Following the reception, the guests wandered back to the barns to be seated for dinner, with a fresh glass of prosseco for every guest (apart from the children of course, who had a non-alcoholic alternative!). The speeches began around half past four and the barns were absolutely filled with laughter from that moment on, such a wonderful sound to hear!
The wedding breakfast was served in a sharing platter style, with a starter of warm camembert, olives, roasted vegetables, serrano ham, homemade hummus and fresh breads:
Main course was roast rump of beef, served to the tables for guests to carve themselves:
Served with jugs of red wine jus, and a selection of different salads including sweet potato, fig and chilli:
Griddled courgettes with pine nuts and feta:
And roasted butternut squash with goat’s cheese, toasted sunflower seeds and rocket:
Pudding was a fun ice cream sharing platter, with each guest presented with a martini glass of ice cream so that they could add their favourite toppings; honeycomb, popping candy, strawberry jelly, chocolate pencils and hot salted caramel sauce!
The celebrations continued into the night, as did the food – guests helped themselves to the amazing cake table, and our waiting staff served tea and coffee from a coffee bar.
